Vaccine against equine trichophytosis

Composition:

Trichophyton equinum  -  min. 4 . 106 CFU, max. 16 . 106 CFU

Solvent  :  diluent A - 1 ml

Immunity:

Immunity against trichophytosis lasting for a minimum of one year is obtained within 1 month after the revaccination.

Indication:

Preventive vaccination and therapy of trichophytosis in horses.

Preparation for application:

Dilute the vaccine in supplied A Diluter. Shake the suspension well until a complete dispersion of the lyophilizate is achieved.

Dosage

Prophylactic:
  • foals from the age of four months till the age of twelve months:   2 x 2.5 ml
  • horses above twelve months of age:  2 x 5 mL

Interval between vaccination and revaccination is 10 – 16 days.

Therapeutic:

In foals and horses over 4 months twice 5 ml with an interval of 10-16 days. The third application of the vaccine in a therapeutic dose is recommended in case of an extensive affection. 10-16 days after revaccination.

Method of administration:

Intramuscular, to the neck muscle or the muscles of the rear limb. Vaccination is recommended to the left half of the body and revaccination to the right half of the body.

Adverse reaction:

With high activity and heavy training load of horses, painful oedema may be observed at vaccination spots within one week after vaccination and especially after revaccination. Feed intake may also be decreased.These effects will disappear spontaneously within 5 to 7 days. The anaphylactoid reaction can be observed sporadically;nevertheless, it can be treated with the relevant preparations well. Immunized animals shall be observed for the sufficient interval.

Note:

Preventive administration of the vaccine should not be performed at times of heavy physical load (i.e. race horses should be vaccinated before or after racing season). In animals vaccinated within the incubation period of trichophytosis, a flare-up of the disease may occur. Such horses must be given therapeutic doses of the vaccine. With extensive trichophytic lesions, supportive local treatment should be given.Vaccine shall be used within 2 hours after its thinning!

Storage:

Store in a dry and dark place at a temperature of 2 - 8 °C.

Shelf life:

18 months, the vaccine must be used within 2 hours after reconstitution.

Package:

5 x 5 ml, 1 x 25 ml, 1 x 50 ml.
